Three of the four Lansing Catholic Football players who knelt during the national anthem at school games will take part in a forum tonight in Lansing.
Michael Lynn III, Matthew Abdullah along with teammates Kabbash Richards and Roje Williams made headlines this fall after kneeling during the Star Spangled Banner in protest of racism and police brutality against African-Americans.
Backlash was swift with the players either not starting games, or having less playing time. The players also had to deal with harsh comments and chants from the crowd. The players are now known as the Lansing Catholic High School 4 or LCHS4. They were just honored at a Lansing City Council meeting on December 11.
Lynn, Williams, and Richards along with their parents, will be on a panel tonight where they will take questions from the community and discuss their future goals.
Free registration in advance is recommended but not required, however, everyone planning to go must show identification when checking in. The forum known as "LCHS4" begins at 6 p.m. at Schmidt Community Center. The center is located at 5825 Wise Road, Lansing, MI 48911.
