Dozens of Apple fans camped outside the Lansing Township store to be among the first to get their hands on the new iPhone X, which went on sale Friday morning.

The store opened at 8 a.m., but many fans started lining up Thursday afternoon.

The 10th-anniversary phone is the most expensive iPhone yet, with a starting price tag at $1,000. The phone features a new fullscreen, facial recognition technology, and an upgraded camera.

Merik Whipple, who camped outside the Eastwood Store for nearly 20 hours, said he was willing to a premium for that technology.

"If you want every feature, you want the top of the market you're going to pay big money for it," Whipple said.

Some fans tell FOX 47 they camped outside the store because they did not have any luck when they tried to pre-order the phone last week. Early demand was so high, customers say they were given shipping dates after Thanksgiving.

Employees at the Eastwood Store could not confirm the exact number of phones they got, saying supply was limited and they expected to sell out within an hour.
