It's the beginning of the end of construction at the I-96/US-23 interchange.
Crews began closing lanes there at 9:00 pm Tuesday night.
MDOT began the project last spring and expects to be finished later this year.
It built new express lanes in between the existing lanes. The outside lanes are now for traffic getting on or off the highway.
MDOT is rebuilding six bridges over US-23 and Old 23.
