EATON COUNTY, Mich. — There's some construction work starting up on I-96 that will bring closures for the next couple of days.
Crews with the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will making repairs on the eastbound and westbound I-96 bridges over the Grand River and Billwood Highway in Eaton County.
The work is part of a $1.3 million project to perform preventative maintenance and repair work to the bridges.
There will be single-lane closures in each direction of I-96 on Thursday, Sept. 12 and Friday, Sept. 13 from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. each day.
The northbound Lansing Road ramp to eastbound I-96 will also be closed.
The work is expected to be finished by Saturday, Sept. 14 at 5 a.m., per MDOT.
Drivers should expect to see delays.
MDOT is encouraging people to seek a different route.
