GVSU offers resources for victims of sexual assault

Grand Valley State University and the Ottawa County Sheriff's office are investigating after a reported sexual assault over the weekend near campus.< /span>

The student tells deputies she was assaulted at an off-campus party at the Enclave Apartments in Allendale Township early Sunday morning. The victim said she was attending a party when a suspect pulled her into a bedroom and committed rape.

The university send out an alert to students reminding them if they see an suspicious activity near campus to always call 911.

GVSU also reminded victims of sexual assault to reach out to the GVSU Center for Women and Gender Equity which can help provide assistance.

Grand Valley says it offers victim advocacy to all members of the university which plays a critical role in the healing process of a victim and or survivor.

Services through the victim advocate are available Monday-Friday 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. To set up a time to speak with an advocate, please call 616-331-2748 or email one of the university's Co-Advocates .
