A Laingsburg man has been arraigned on multiple fraud-related crimes after police say he stole people's money in a house flipping scam.

Eric Lynn Byrnes of Laingsburg was arrested earlier this week after a long-term investigation by the Michigan State Police Lansing Post, East Lansing Police Department, and Meridian Township Police Department’s detectives.

Investigators say Byrnes approached his victims stating he was in the house flipping business and was looking for investors, promising a quick turnaround of their investment along with a substantial interest payment. Investigators say there was no evidence to indicate that Byrnes invested the money; instead turning it into his own personal financial gain and allegedly never repaid his investors.

Byrnes was arraigned on the charges in two different jurisdictions this week and is currently lodged in the Ingham County Jail with a total bond of $450,000. He is due back in court next month.
