One person is behind bars following a pair of separate incidents involving gunfire that occurred overnight.
Around 1 a.m. Monday, officers responded to a home near the intersection of East Vine and Portage streets, after receiving reports of shots being fired.
Police say the person responsible for the gunfire had been firing the weapon at their own home amid an "ongoing altercation."
Officers were able to apprehend the suspect, who had attempted to leave the area by car, along with the weapon used during the incident.
That individual is now facing various weapon violations and assault charges.
A little later, around 2:15 a.m., a homeowner living near the intersection of South Rose and West Lovell streets called police to report that a window in their house had been shot out.
Officers found a bullet lodged in the wall of the home, and also discovered several shell casings littering the ground on nearby West Cedar Street.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Kalamazoo Public Safety at 269-337-8139 or Silent Observer at 269-343-2100.
