It's going to cost you if want cash back at Kroger.
The grocery chain says customers now have to pay a fee for doing that.
Kroger is now charging a 50-cent fee for debit card cash back transactions:
Here's what the grocery chain is charging now:
- No fee for any request $0.99 and under
- $0.50 for cash back between $1 and $100
- $3.50 for cash back between $100.01 and $300
Customers can sign up and use a Kroger Plus card to waive the 50-cent fee for cash back up to $100.
A $3 fee will still apply on debit card purchase amounts higher than $100.
In response to outcry on social media, Kroger said the new fee is a result of "banks & other retailers raising ATM fees & limiting the amount of cashback."
