The Kiwanis Park in Jackson will be closed starting Monday so crews can install new playground equipment.

The park will be closed from the 17th until the 24th, opening Tuesday, Sept. 25.

The playground will feature new slides, swings and even a climbing wall thanks for support from the community.

The Kiwanis Club of Jackson celebrated 100 years of service to Jackson by having a fundraiser to build the new playground.

The project costs $50,822. The Jackson Kiwanis Foundation donated $12,705. And the remainder of the money came from grants and donations from the Hurt Foundation, Margaret Myers, Dave Garcia, and the Law Offices of Howard Patch.

The park is located on the corner of Elm Street and Blakely Avenue in Jackson.

Kelli Hoover, Director of the Jackson Department of Parks and Recreation says she’s pleased the community came together for this project. “We’re excited that people in the surrounding neighborhood will be able to enjoy this new playground. The city is looking forward to working with the Kiwanis Club of Jackson on this project and future endeavors,” Hoover said.
