HOLT, Mich. — A missing Power Wheel Dune Buggy, and three boys learning a life lesson about how cruel some people can be.
That's what one local family is going through right now.
The battery-powered car, which costs around $250 was taken right from their yard. The family says it's not about the money, it's the fact that somebody stole from children.
"The dune buggy was our favorite toy," the boys said.
Blake, Kamden, and Colton used to have to be pried off of their Power Wheel Desert Racer toy. Now, the three boys are seeing first hand how cruel people can be.
"To steal that knowing that some kid is not going to have that toy...you've got to be pretty awful to be able to do that," the boys' mom, Mariam Henfling said.
The family says they don't know who did it or why but says it's something that didn't they would have to worry about.
"In Holt, you expect to have a safe community. You know, you shouldn't have to worry about people breaking in, you shouldn't have to worry about people stealing your stuff."
For now, the boys are riding their bikes, jumping on their trampoline and just running around outside still enjoying their days; but for Henfling, it's the life lesson her young boys learned that is hard to take.
"I'm upset and I'm bothered by it...but I think I'm more hurt that my kids have something missing and now I've had to explain to them that there are bad people here and they took your stuff and mommy can't fix it right now," she said.
"We want it back," the boys added.
The family said they are now investing in a security camera. If anyone has any information, call the police.
