Kids can enjoy a free carnival during kindergarten enrollment

The Lansing School District is hosting an enrollment event for kindergarten students and their families on Wednesday.

The event, called Kidzapalooza, is happening on July 25 from 3 - 7 p.m. at the Eva L. Evans Welcome Center, located at 2400 Pattengill Avenue in Lansing.

This year they are offering a free carnival with bounce houses, games and giveaways as students and their parents can meet teachers and visit the school.

“This is an exciting time for children ready for Kindergarten, and KIDZAPALOOZA is a fun and welcoming event,” said superintendent Yvonne Caamal Canul. “We want our families enrolling in the
Lansing School District to know we care about this important life transition, and just like the children we are excited for the new students to come to school!”

In order to enroll a student, parents or guardians must bring the child’s birth certificate, immunization records and proof of residency. Along with an enrollment station, the event will offer free immunizations, and free food.

“KIDZAPALOOZA is not only designed for incoming kindergarten students,” said Delsa Chapman, associate superintendent for student learning. “The event is also an opportunity for students in all grades to determine and solidify their school ‘choice’ for the 2018/2019 school year. This is especially important for the families desiring to attend a Magnet School as well as for those who did not submit a letter of intent in the Spring. By next week, all students not officially assigned per their requested or intended school choice will be assigned a seat by our pupil accounting office to a school with space.”
