Meijer is recalling diced hard-boiled eggs sold at two Kent County stores due to the potential risk of listeria.

The eggs were used in salad bars at the Knapps Corner Meijer located at 1997 East Beltline Rd. and the Rockford location at 2799 10 Mile Rd. Anyone who purchased it from Oct. 25 to Dec. 23 from either location is encouraged to throw it away or return it for a full refund.

Listeria can cause serious and potentially fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people and others with weakened immune systems.

Symptoms include high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea and abdominal pain. It can also cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.

No illnesses have been reported.
