GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A west Michigan jury is set to start deliberating in the case of Jared Chance, who is accused of killing and dismembering 31-year-old Ashley Young in Grand Rapids.
Testimony ended in the trial against Jared Chance Thursday, Sept. 12.
Closing arguments are set to start Friday morning before the case goes to the jury.
Chance is charged with second degree murder and other charges in the November 2018 death of Young.
He faces up to life in prison if convicted.
Chance is accused of murdering Young at his apartment late last year.
Chance told a judge Monday that he wants to go to trial regarding the death of Young. The terms include pleading guilty to second-degree murder for a minimum 31-year prison sentence. Chance will also have to give a full explanation of what he did with Young's un-recovered remains.
Chance faces charges of first-degree murder, mutilation of a dead body, concealing a death and three counts of tampering with evidence.
If convicted, Chance faces life in prison.
