LANSING, Mich. — Bdour Al-Yasari, 28, the Holt woman accused of plotting the death of her husband was back in an Ingham County courtroom Thursday morning.
She's accused of committing the crime with her secret lover.
On Thursday, Judge Joyce Draganchuk denied all requests from the defense to suppress evidence in the case.
The evidence the defense wanted to suppress was the initial interview conducted with Al-Yasari the night of the murder and her cell phone, which was taken, at the time, without a warrant.
Judge Draganchuk decided police had probable cause to take the phone.
The judge denied a request to not allow the phrase "violent crime impact team," which was the police agency that surveilled Al-Yasari before her arrest.
The request to not mention Jacob Ficher being arrested was also denied.
Ficher was Al-Yasari's secret lover who has already been convicted of committing the murder.
The judge also denied a motion to prohibit a photo from Levi Thomason's phone, who was Ficher's roommate.
A motion for the state to pay for the defense's expert witnesses was also denied due to Al-Yasari hiring her own private attorney.
A motion was granted to prevent the questioning of a police witness asking for their opinion on another witness.
A pretrial conference will be held Monday afternoon to set a trial date and discuss other technical matters.
This trial was set to begin Monday, March 16, 2020, but Judge Draganchuk decided to postpone it and set the start for a later date.
This was at the request of Al-Yasari's defense attornies at Abood Law.
Andrew Abood took on the year-long case in January and told the judge, he and his defense team needed more time to prepare and gather their own expert witnesses on Tuesday.
Ficher was convicted and sentenced to life without parole back in January for the murder of Al-Yasari's husband, Ammar Al-Yasari.
