JACKSON, Mich. — A woman in Jackson is giving back.

Wanda Beavers wants to make sure people who are homeless have a happy Fourth of July.

Beavers is hosting a community barbecue on the holiday.

She's expecting hundreds of people to come and needs food, utensils, beverages and even sparklers for the kids.

Beavers said after learning there were not many places serving food for the holiday, she knew she had to do something.

"This is what I gotta do, this is what the Lord wants me to do. That's what I decided to do, I said I'm gonna have this Fourth of July dinner, for the homeless the needy the community, whoever wants to come to it is welcome," Beavers said.

If you'd like to volunteer or make a donation, contact Beavers at 517-414-0932, or you can drop off donations at her home at 122 West Biddle in Jackson.
