Ted O'Dell is a walking encyclopedia of all things cars - and he wants to bring to light a piece of automotive history many don’t know about.
"I'm trying to protect, preserve and promote Jackson's automotive heritage" he says.
That’s right - Jackson, Michigan's heritage; while today many people usually think of the "big three" it wasn't always that way.
Between 1894 and 1930 there was more than 1800 automobile manufacturers in the United States.
"The fascinating thing is at the beginning of the 20th century Jackson, Michigan was mass producing 24 automobiles...24!"
"All makes, models, combustible engines, electric cars, cars without transmission, cars that ran on a different system" O'Dell says adding, "It was just incredible, amazing what went on here 100 years ago."
So the gears were set in motion for the Hackett Auto Museum which is housed in an old abandoned former auto plant.
It will highlight and honor Jackson's contribution to the Automobile Industry.
The Hackett Auto Museum is scheduled to open next spring.
