Jackson Police: '911 caller shoots intruder'

The Jackson Police Department is investigating a shooting where the 911 caller stated he shot an intruder.

A 19-year-old is in critical condition.

The house off Seymour Ave. and Phillips St. was surrounded with police tape Sunday evening. The home is a 5-minute drive northeast of Henry Ford Allegiance Health.

According to a press release by the Jackson Police Department, they responded to a call at 3:30 PM for the report of a shooting.

The 911 caller said they were inside and shot the 19-year-old man that broke into the house.

Shortly after the call, the 19-year-old was dropped off at the Henry Ford Allegiance Emergency Department with a gunshot wound to the chest. \

Several other people were identified that were believed to be with the 19-year-old when he was shot.

A neighbor told FOX 47 News that an elderly man lives at the home.
