While first responders were trying to give aid to a woman who was unconscious, a suspect came up and started to fight with ambulance and fire personnel shouting someone was trying to kill him, the Jackson County Office of the Sheriff reports.
Around 10:18 p.m. Tuesday, deputies were called in to assist with a disorderly subject fighting with first responders and trying to enter an ambulance. Undersheriff Christopher Kuhl said the Summit Township Fire Department and Jackson Community Ambulance were dispatched to Hollis Street for a medical call.
The suspect, a 38-year-old Jackson man, who was not related to the call then came up to the first responders and started to yell that someone was trying to kill him. Kuhl said it was also reported the suspect was interfering with the first responders as they tried to give aid.
The suspect alleged he had a gun, and that is when the fire department called police for assistance, Kuhl said.
No weapon was found, and there was also no report of shots being fired. The suspect appeared to be in an altered state of mind, the department reports.
The man was arrested for disorderly conduct, and lodged at the Jackson County Jail.
