House fire that killed several pets being investigated as arson

Jackson's Director of Police & Fire Services Elmer Hitt reports the fire is now under investigation as suspicion of arson. No arrests have been made at this time.

The residents of the home were away from the house at the time of the fire, and were not injured, but two dogs and three cats inside the house died.

A Michigan State Police Fire Investigator is assisting with the investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Holly Rose at (517) 768-8724 or can report information anonymously to Crime Stoppers of Mid-Michigan at 855-840-7867.

A devastating house fire in Jackson killed a family's pets, and left two firefighters injured.

It started just before 1:30 in the 1800 block of Pringle Avenue.

The Deputy Fire Chief says no people were inside at the time of the fire. However, the two dogs inside died. He also said the fire was difficult to put out.

One firefighter suffered an ankle injury, and the other heat exhaustion. Both are expected to be Okay.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
