The city of Jackson will celebrate the retirement of Police Chief matt Heins. He announced last week that he would be stepping down after 27 years on the force.

Heins has been at the helm of the Jackson Police Department since 2007, and he joined the force in 1989.

He is leaving for a job in the private sector, as the new security manager for Henry Ford Allegiance Hospital.
