LANSING, Mich. — The Jackson Gus Macker is back for the second straight year.

The celebration is underway at Jackson Street and Michigan Avenue with the Heroes tournament that features law enforcement from around the Jackson area.

Hundreds of basketball players young and old are scheduled to tip off at the Gus Macker Saturday morning.

With those players come hundreds more fans and families and the influx of people does nothing but good things for the city of Jackson.

"It's something that's going to spread from downtown to the entire Jackson community. We've heard from different business owners that when we've had festivals downtown, it's gotten a lot of people in their doors that didn't know those places existed. It's great to get that exposure, it's bringing people to the center of downtown and exposing all that Jackson has to offer," Aaron Dimick, the Public Information Officer of Jackson, said.

Event organizer Kyle Liechty said that over 70% of players in the Gus Macker are 18 and younger and that means more families will be checking it out.

The city's "Cruise-In" also takes place Friday night.

With the Gus Macker taking over downtown, that moves the car show to Michigan Avenue on the northwest side of the city.

Here is information regarding road closures due to the Gus Macker.
