The Jackson County Prosecutor's Office is warning residents of a scam targeting grandparents.
It's not a new scam but it's worth stressing.
Here's how it works.
The caller pretends they're from the government and tells the intended victim that their grandchild has been arrested and is in jail.
They urge the grandparent to meet them and give them bail money.
Scammers often pretend to be someone the victim might trust.
A good reminder: Do not give out any personal information over the phone.
