The city of Jackson will consider banning marijuana businesses from starting in the city if the recreational marijuana is passed by Michigan voters on November 6th.
Jackson City Council members are scheduled to listen to a presentation by Police Fire Services Director Elmer Hitt during a meeting Tuesday night.
Council members will consider approving an ordinance to prohibit recreational marijuana establishments in the city of Jackson.
Under the recreational marijuana initiative language, municipalities have to opt out if they don't want such businesses allowed.
Earlier this month, the Jackson County Board of Commissioners approved a resolution that opposes the legalization of recreational marijuana.
Tuesday night's council meeting is at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall on West Michigan Avenue.
