LANSING, Mich. — Folks in Lansing's Old Town got the chance to hear some Irish tunes and poetry.
The Lansing Poetry Club hosted an afternoon of Irish poetry, storytelling and song. Local musicians Mike Ross and Sally Potter were there.
Some of Ireland's most beloved poems and stories were recited. Some of the poets there included Katie Fay and Mary Fox. There was also an open mic for people to sing.
"There's an enormous vitality in Irish music, in Irish traditional music, as well as modern music," said Lansing Poetry Club president Ruelaine Stokes," and one of the beautiful things about Irish culture is that the oral tradition is still very very much alive."
The Lansing Poetry Club's mission is to foster interest in the appreciation of poetry and encourage expression among members.
