HILLSDALE CO., Mich. — The Hillsdale County deputy badly injured in a crash in late August is expected to be released from a hospital soon according to Sheriff Timothy Parker.

Deputy Wes Ludeker was treated in the intensive care unit at a hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana following the accident.

He was moved to a hospital closer to home once his condition improved.

Ludeker and Deputy Daun Rubin were in an SUV that collided with a van on South Hillsdale Road near Bear Lake Road in Cambria Township on August 28.

Ludeker and the driver of the van, Krista Kackworth, were airlifted to a hospital.

Sheriff Parker did not have any updates on her condition. Deputy Rubin was treated and released from a hospital within hours of the crash.
