Ingham ISD Offers Summer Learning Opportunities for Students

LANSING, Mich. — Ingham Intermediate School District is offering a variety of summer learning opportunities for students. Offerings include both gifted and talented programs such as Kids College and Mathematics Analytics Series: Cultivating Optimum Teamwork (MASCOT) as well as exposing students to future careers through career and technical education camps offered at Wilson Talent Center.

Kids’ College, in partnership with Michigan State University, improves and expands education offerings for students who have outstanding abilities and/or potential talent in the content areas of science, technology, engineering and math. In its 33rd year, the 2019 program will run from Monday, July 8 through Friday, July 19 from 8:30 -11:30 am each day on the campus of Michigan State University. To be eligible, students must currently be in grades 4 or 5, have an interest in science and have demonstrated high potential for development in the sciences. Registration for this program is $290 per student.

The MASCOT program, also in partnership with Michigan State University, is a two-week program designed to serve students who are identified as having high abilities or interest in mathematics. The program challenges students to develop a better understanding of mathematics through the use of problem solving applications, mathematical reasoning and collaboration. This program is for students currently in grades 6 or 7 and will run from Monday, July 8 through Friday, July 19 on the campus of Michigan State University. Registration for this program is also $290 per student.

Career Summer Camps will be offered July 9-10 and July 17-18 at the Wilson Talent Center. Program offerings include: athletic training, automotive technology, bioscience, construction, cosmetology and digital arts for students currently in grades 5-7. Camp will run from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm. Cost is $110 per student, per camp.
