MASON, Mich. — The Ingham County Health Department is testing new samples taken from 2 rivers and 2 creeks contaminated by wastewater.

Friday the county issued a "no contact" advisory for Rayner Creek and Sycamore Creek as well as the Grand River and Red Cedar River downstream from Sycamore Creek.

The advisory was issued after wastewater was intentionally released into the Rayner Drain on Thursday, June 20 to prevent sewage backups in low-lying areas of Mason.

The health department took new samples from 21 sites in the creeks and rivers on Monday.

Results should be available around noon Tuesday.
