Ingham County Animal Shelter slashes adoption fees by 75% due to overcrowding

Ingham County Animal Control Shelter is currently very full of both dogs and cats. In order to reduce crowding, the Shelter is reducing adoption fees by 75%. Adult dogs will be $25, senior dogs (over 6 years) $15, and puppies (under 6 months) $35. Cats will be $21, and senior cats (over 6 years) $12.

“Due to a number of factors, the animal shelter is very full right now. Summer is always our busy season and we also have a lot of animals that have come in through our animal cruelty enforcement activities, including the large scale intake of cats due to over-crowing back on June 12th” said Animal Control director John Dinon. “The discounted adoption fees to alleviate crowding at the shelter make this a great time to come in and adopt your new best friend.”

Reduced adoption fees will continue as long as the shelter remains at or near capacity. All adoptions are subject to approval by shelter staff and, although adoption fees are reduced, donations are always welcome.

Ingham County Animal Control Shelter is open seven days per week - noon to 6:00 PM Tuesday, noon to 7:00 PM Wednesday and 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM Thursday through Monday. Adoptable animals are featured on the shelter’s website www.ac.ingham.org.
