MASON, Mich. — As part of the Ingham County public health precautions, Ingham County Animal Control & Shelter is closing to the public until further notice.

ICACS Outreach Center at 826 W Saginaw in Lansing will be closed until further notice. Volunteers and staff will be making pet food available for low income households in weather resistant containers outside both the Outreach Center in Lansing and ICACS in Mason. Please only take enough food for your pets’ immediate need.

Animal Care Workers are still working full shifts to care for the remaining dogs and cats in the shelter, and we will continue to work to put adoptable pets into foster homes and ensure safe placement. While staff is disappointed that special events and in-shelter adoptions must be suspended, the public health precautions are important for everyone’s safety including those of staff, volunteers, and visitors.

Animal control officers will still be on duty at this time. Officer hours are Mondays 7:30-3:30, Tuesdays-Fridays 7:30-9, and Saturdays 8-3:30. If you have an animal related issue, please contact 517-676-8370 ext 1. Please understand officers will be taking precautions and may respond to complainants over the phone prior to arriving on scene.

If you are looking for a lost pet and believe it may be at the shelter, come to the shelter and call the aforementioned dispatch number. An Animal Control Officer will escort you through the building to help identify and return the animal to you. Please bring proof of ownership (license, veterinary records etc.) to assist in the redemption process. Stray animals and owner surrendered animals will not be accepted during the suspension of services.

For more information or updates, please contact the shelter at 517-676-8370 or visit the ICAC website at www.ac.ingham.org.
