An Ingham County Commissioner has resigned over his use of his government email for campaign purposes.
FOX 47 News told about allegations against Dennis Louney back in July.
Several Ingham County commissioners confirmed with FOX 47 News that Louney resigned Monday night effective immediately.
His resignation comes after documents revealed he was using his county email address for the recent primary election.
Ingham County Clerk Barb Byrum filed a complaint with the Michigan Bureau of Elections.
The Michigan Bureau of Elections is investigating and Louney could face fines.
Commissioners tell FOX 47 News they could appoint Louney's replacement as soon as the next regular board meeting on August 28th.
