Due to overcrowding the Ingham County Animal Control Shelter is reducing adoption fees. Dog adoption fees are down 50%, and they are offering no fee cat adoptions until there is more room in the shelter.
“We normally see an increase in the shelter population in the summer, but this summer has been exceptional.” said Director John Dinon. “On top of the usual summer rush, we have taken in a lot of cats and dogs through enforcement of the animal cruelty laws. Discounted dog adoptions and no fee cat adoptions will only continue until the current crowding is relieved, so come in soon to get a great deal on a new best friend.”
All adoptions need to be approved by shelter staff, and although adoption fees are reduced they are still welcoming donations to help care for the animals.
All dogs and cats adopted from the shelter are spayed or neutered, and have received a vet exam, age appropriate vaccines, and are micro-chipped.
Ingham County Animal Control Shelter is open noon to 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, noon to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday and 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Thursday through Monday.
