Increase in bad prescription drug reactions

Posted

Federal health officials say that bad reactions to prescription drugs are increasing.

The CDC says one out of every 250 Americans visited the emergency room during 2013 and 2014 due to an adverse drug reaction.

A report found that out of all the groups, elderly Americans ended up in the ER at a higher rate.

About 35-percent of all ER visits in the study were people 65 and older.

Adults also experienced the highest hospitalization rates.
