MASON, Mich. — On Saturday, December 15th, Ingham County Animal Shelter is hosting a double event. At 5pm when regular shelter activities close, our annual Holiday All Nighter Adoption Event will kick off. Adoption fees will be discounted to $25 for dogs and $5 for cats for approved adoptions. Regular adoption requirements will still apply, and families should remember that adopting a pet is a lifetime commitment. Adoptions will go all night until 1am with the help of shelter volunteers and staff. During these festivities there will be Pet Photos with Santa from 5-8pm by donation.

New this year will be the first annual “InPound” fundraising event going on at the same time as the holiday adoptions. Local celebrity personalities are being InPounded to the shelter and locked up by animal control officers with an adoptable pet. To be released, they have to call in favors and get your support to raise the $500 redemption fee so they can make it Home for the Holidays like the pets they are locked up with. Participants include Ingham County Sheriff Scott Wriggelsworth, Kirbay Preuss from Preuss Pets, Artimis from i92.9FM, Ingham County Treasurer Eric Schertzing, and many more. These shelter supporters will be walked to their kennels at 6pm and will stay until they can raise their donation redemption fee. Donations can be brought to the shelter, or made over the phone, to help your favorite citizens. Phone lines will open at 6pm. Call 517-676-8318 or 517-676-8362 to make a donation, or they can be made online or in person at the shelter.

In 2017 there were over 30 adoptions at this event, with nearly 80 volunteer hours dedicated to finding forever homes for the pets at the shelter. This year the shelter has a goal of both increasing adoptions, but also raising funds and awareness for shelter programs.
