LANSING, Mich. — The Ingham County Animal Control and Shelter (ICACS) is offering a pet adoption incentive for Red Cross workers and blood donors.

For the month of August, Red Cross workers and blood donors can adopt a shelter dog or cat for free from the ICACS. A dog license much still be purchased when applicable.

This comes as part of the "Project Family" adoption incentive hosted by the ICACS. The project selects different groups and organizations in the community to adopt a shelter pet for free each month.

Blood donors can either bring in a voucher card as provided from area donation sites, or show a confirmation email of an upcoming appointment to be eligible.

Red Cross employees and associated volunteers are also eligible with Red Cross identification.

The ICACS will also be hosting a blood drive on Aug. 23 in the Community Room at the new animal shelter facility in Mason.

The Red Cross recommends scheduling an appointment if you plan to donate blood. You can click here to do so.

For more information on discounted adoption fees or other programs at the ICACS, you can contact the shelter at 517-676-8370, or visit the ICAC website at www.ac.ingham.org.
