The Hunger Solutions Caucus held its first meeting at the State Capitol to talk about ways to end hunger in Michigan.
Dr. Phil Knight is the Executive Director for the Food Bank Council of Michigan. He met with legislators to develop solutions in a collective bi-partisan effort. Knight says the ultimate goal for the caucus is to change the conversation of hunger in Michigan and solve the issue, rather than alleviating it. "It just seems like there was a great opportunity to create both the political and personal will with the crisis that's come up in Flint and it just has created a new opportunity for us to focus on nutrition and the impact and importance on our children."
The caucus plans to meet twice a year.
