Hundreds of local families are able to have a Thanksgiving meal this holiday.  And its all thanks to the Lansing School District.

The District passed out meals to 500 families in the community over the weekend.

Families in need were selected by the school district and stopped by Everett High School and picked up a turkey and fixings.

There were over 100 volunteers and this is the fourth year of the event.

Mark Coscarella/Lansing School District:
"On a time of need like this.  It's nice to add a little bit of hope to our families so this event called the pathways to the holidays is a real opportunity to give back to our community let them know how much we appreciate them, let them know they are part of the community and we are really thinking of them especially during the holidays."

The event was organized by the Lansing School District but sponsors paid and bought the food.
