Investigators are working to find out what caused a fire that destroyed a house in Ingham County Monday night.

Fire crews got the call about the fire at a home on the 4600 block of West Barnes Road in Aurelius Township just after 11 p.m. Monday.

The house is not far from both Aurelius Township Hall and Aurelius Baptist Church.

When crews arrived on scene, flames could be seen shooting from the house.

Witnesses tell FOX 47 a man, a woman, a baby and two dogs were inside the home when the fire broke out but they were all able to get out safely.

Crews from Eaton Rapids, Onondaga Township, and the city of Mason were called to battle the flames.

Fire officials tell FOX 47 that at one point every firefighter had to be pulled out of the house over fears the walls and/or roof could cave in on them.

There's no word on what caused the fire at this time, but investigators say it started on the back porch and quickly spread to the house.

FOX 47 is working to get more details and will update the story as more information becomes available..
