CHARLOTTE, Mich. — A hospice care center in Eaton County is asking for the community's help to find a woman who they say stole from them.

Eaton Community Palliative Care is located at 2675 S. Cochran in Charlotte.

A woman was caught on security camera apparently stealing items from their thrift store. This wasn't the first time thieves targeted the center.

Any chance he gets, Miles Warren donates items to the thrift store because he wants to help patients and their families.

"I've had family members who have utilized hospice before at the end of their life and it's a very moving experience. I'd like to help others transition as flawlessly as possible," Warren said. "I just find it deplorable. I don't know why anyone would steal from those who are getting ready to pass on. It's ridiculous. It's not like the items are expensive to begin with."

The funds generated from the store's sales help keep the center open to care for the terminally ill. A sign on the store's door reads that the center needs help finding the woman who helped herself to merchandise in their sorting room at around 9:45 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 5.

"I don't know if times are tough for these people or what the situation is but it's gotta stop," Warren said.

The Eaton County Sheriff's Office did find a suspect in last year's case and asked for the prosecutor's office to charge them with larceny.

Warren hopes that the same outcome will happen in this case and that justice will be served.

"I hope this individual goes before judge and a jury of their peers. If the evidence is there, (they'll) find no problem convicting them."

FOX 47 News reached out to the center's manager who said that she couldn't comment on the case, because they're in the process of getting law enforcement involved.
