The Michigan Coalition Against Homelessness will gather in Lansing Wednesday.

They will ask lawmakers to support bills that would give access to homeless persons state identification cards.

The coalition says that without these cards, thousands of people are denied shelter every year.

The group will be at Lansing Community College at 9:00 Wednesday morning.

More than 60,000 people experienced homelessness in Michigan in 2016.
