Holt students raise money for the hungry

Holt High School students and community members came together to raise money for the hungry.

They met at Champions Sports Bar and Grill Saturday to raise money for the Holt High School food pantry, a pop-up food bank run by Holt students.

Part of the fundraiser included a silent auction with a football signed by Mark Dantonio, a basketball signed by Tom Izzo, and a plaque signed by Magic Johnson.

The fundraiser was in honor of Jason Baragar who died in a motorcycle accident five years ago.

"To be able to support the tight-knit community that we grew up in, so many people gave us a lot, growing up here, and to able to give back in his name means everything," said lead organizer Jeremy Baragar.

Some of the money will also go to the Holt High School baseball team.

Last year's fundraiser raised $14,000.
