The Historical Society of Michigan will soon hold its 143rd Annual Meeting and State History Conference in western Michigan.

The event takes place Sept. 22-24 in Holland. The conference celebrates all aspects of Michigan's history and moves to a different location in the Lower Peninsula each year.

The conference also explores the history of the area hosting the event. The city of Holland is known for its Dutch heritage and is home to the annual Tulip Time festival.

The main sessions take place at the Haworth Inn & Conference Center at Hope College. Other events will be held at venues throughout the city.
