LANSING, Mich. — A group of high school girls went home with a free dress for prom Wednesday night, all thanks to a community effort.
FOX 47's Cryss Walker was there to help them pick out the perfect look.
Prom night is one of the most memorable highlights of high school. It's the final dance to celebrate the milestone to adulthood, and one of the last moments to mingle with your graduating class.
"I'm really looking forward to being able to be beautiful for that one day, and to take lots of pictures and to have a lot of fun," said senior Koren King.
Waverly High School hosted the Warrior Promise dress giveaway Wednesday, giving students a full shopping experience and making on-site alterations to get them ready for one of the biggest nights of their lives.
"It's amazing. I'm so excited and just seeing all the girls pick out their dresses and they're glowing and it's just it's wonderful," said event organizer Davasha Lobbins.
Over 100 dresses were donated.
The ladies were able to find the perfect pick that's parent approved.
