Michigan's two highest courts will not hear an appeal by the Jackson County man who admitted to beating his children.
Court records show the Michigan Supreme Court declined to hear James Harbert's appeal on Dec. 4.
He was sentenced to 20 to 40 years in prison after pleading guilty to several charges of first-degree child abuse last year.
Records show the Michigan Court of Appeals also declined to hear Harbert's appeal as well.
His ex-wife Tina Harbert was convicted of first-degree child abuse charges for failing to protect her children from James Harbert last year as well.
She was sentenced to serve five to 20 years in prison.
MLive reports her appeal is pending and awaiting a hearing at this time.
