Should you get vaccinated for hepatitis A?
A lot of you have been asking that question since News 10 reported friday that a worker at the South Lansing Steak 'n Shake tested positive for the infection.
The Ingham County Health Department is recommending that anyone who ate at the restaurant between Sept. 14 and 25 to get vaccinated.
Also, watch out for the symptoms of hepatitis A, like nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, fatigue and loss of appetite.
Health officer Linda Vail says this is the county's 29th case since last October.
And not every case gets reported to the media.
"We know there's an outbreak of Hepatitis A in this area, and every time a case comes up we can't be issuing mass warnings unless there's a compelling reason to do so," Vail said. "It causes undue fear and panic sometimes."
Ingham County runs an immunization clinic on South Cedar Street in Lansing, which offers the hepatitis A vaccine. You can also find the vaccine at most pharmacies.
