Roads across Mid-Michigan were a mess this morning. Side roads and neighborhood streets were covered with heavy, thick snow. If you have to get on the roads, give yourself a lot of extra time. But, the advice from Michigan State Police is simple, stay off the roads altogether if you can.
Crews are out right now plowing roadways across Mid-Michigan.
Lt. Kyle Bowman who is Michigan State Police's Jackson Post Commander says its a good idea to have an emergency kit in your car and at your home. Stock up on food and keep a flashlight, blanket, and cat litter in the kit.
If you do have to drive on the roads today, go slow and leave a lot of space between you and the person in front of you.
Lt. Bowman says there will be an increased presence from troopers on the road today to keep people safe.
Michigan State Police's Jackson Post dealt with 15 accidents on I-94 Wednesday from noon until 7 p.m. Typically, troopers deal with 2 to 3 accidents.
