DETROIT (AP) — Winter has kept its tight hold on Michigan as strong winds and more snow swirl across parts of the state.
The National Weather Service said Wednesday afternoon that snow showers were decreasing and gusty winds would diminish during the evening.
It says 8.1 inches (20.6 centimeters) of snow fell in the Saginaw area over 36 hours ending at 4 p.m. Wednesday while 3 inches (7.6 centimeters) fell during the day in the Detroit suburb of Eastpointe.
DTE Energy says service has been restored to 58,000 of the utility's 61,000 customers who lost power Monday and Tuesday.
Indiana Michigan Power reports that just over 200 of its southwestern Michigan customers remained without power Wednesday afternoon.
