JACKSON, Mich. — A groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for Cascades Elementary on Tuesday, June 18.

The new school is part of the $87 million dollar bond proposal passed by voters in May of 2018.

Cascades Elementary will house preschool through 5th grade.

Current students at the old Cascades Elementary were combined with Frost Elementary for the start of the 2018-2019 school year so demolition could be scheduled.

Demolition of the old school building took place over the spring. The new building is slated to open in the fall of 2021.

The groundbreaking ceremony event is scheduled to take place at the 1226 N. Wisner Street in Jackson from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.
