The members of the Grand River Environmental Action Team (G.R.E.A.T.) have the next activity scheduled for Sunday, August 19. This will be a Paddling Clinic and will run from at 12:00 noon to 4:00 PM at Vandercook Lake County Park. You may wish to bring a change of clothing in a waterproof bag.
Learn about safety, paddling techniques, first aid and more, including:
- Quiet World Sports will demonstrate how to get back in your kayak after falling out
- Jackson County Conservation District will have information on invasive species and how to prevent spreading them • American Red Cross will provide Life Saving information
- Krupa’s Boats will display a selection of kayaks, paddles, life jackets, etc.
- U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary will provide information on boating safety
- And more!
Bring your own kayak or use one of GREAT’s.

The G.R.E.A.T. July on the Grand River trip was modified at the last minute to a avoid a portion of the river that could not be cleared.
The mission of GREAT is to promote the protection and preservation of the Grand River Watershed through activities and educational programs. Founded in 1990, the Grand River Environmental Action Team is a local 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization dedicated to the protection of and restoration of the Upper Grand River Watershed in Jackson County of south central Michigan. G.R.E.A.T. organizes clean-up activities & monthly public canoe outings to create environmental awareness.
