The man charged with killing Lansing Firefighter Dennis Rodeman was at a plea hearing Thursday where he pleaded guilty, but mentally ill.
He will be sentenced on September 7, at 11 a.m. to no more, or no less than 30 years in prison.
Ingham County Prosecutors say Grant Taylor purposely hit Rodeman with his truck while the firefighter was collecting donations for charity on September ninth, 2015. Investigators say Taylor was angry because firefighters were slowing down traffic near the corner of Jolly and Cedar Streets in Lansing.
The 24 year old is charged with murder, failing to stop at the scene of a personal injury accident causing death, and two counts of third degree fleeing and eluding.
Counts 1, and 5 will be dropped in exchange for the guilty plea.
