Grant Taylor, the man who is charged in the death of Lansing firefighter Dennis Rodeman, has been found incompetent to stand trial. Ingham County Circuit Court Judge Clinton Canady III issued the ruling Wednesday.

Rodeman died on September 9, 2015 after being struck by a vehicle that Taylor was driving in south Lansing. Rodeman was collecting charitable donations for the "Fill the Boot" fundraiser for muscular dystrophy with other Lansing firefighters at the intersection of Cedar St. and Jolly Road. Taylor went through the intersection and had a brief altercation with Rodeman. Police say he drove off, then circled back and hit Rodeman with his truck. Taylor then fled the scene and was arrested a short time later.

He faces multiple charges including murder, and assault with the intent to kill. Taylor has a history of mental illness. He was declared competent to stand trial in 2015, but underwent a second competency exam at the request of his defense attorney in May.
